SUMMARY:The New Corporation
DESCRIPTION:The New Corporation\nBe The Change Film Series continues Season 17 on Wednesday November 20th at 7pm at the Simcoe Street Theatre in Collingwood with a screening of\, The NEW Corporation: The Unfortunately Necessary Sequel. From Joel Bakan and Jennifer Abbott\, filmmakers of the multi-award-winning global hit\, The Corporation \, comes this hard-hitting and timely sequel. The New Corporation reveals how the corporate takeover of society is being justified by the sly rebranding of corporations as socially conscious entities. From gatherings of corporate elites in Davos\, to climate change and spiraling inequality; the rise of ultra-right leaders\, to Covid-19 and racial injustice\, the film looks at corporations’ devastating power. In the face of inequality\, climate change\, and the hollowing out of democracy. The New Corporation is a cry for social justice\, democracy\, and transformative solutions.\n \n Tickets

SUMMARY:500 Days in the Wild
DESCRIPTION:500 Days in the Wild\nBe The Change Film Series is excited to start Season 17 on Wednesday October 16th at 7pm at the Simcoe Street Theatre in Collingwood with the screening of 500 Days in the Wild. Canadian award-winning director and cinematographer\, Dianne Whelan\, made this film about her epic journey across Canada on the Trans-Canada trail. For a woman in her 50s who is not an extreme athlete\, it was sometimes gruelling\, occasionally harrowing\, often exhilarating and always surprising. She started out alone\, disillusioned with the state of the world and worried about climate change\, to look for different ways of caring for the land and each other. She ended the journey a bit wiser\, more hopeful\, in love and with a passion to share this story.

SUMMARY:Celebrating Springsteen: Unplugged
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating Springsteen: Unplugged  \nBruce Springsteen was one of the first concerts I ever attended. The 2 things that struck me the most that night was that he didn’t have a huge barrier and security separating himself from the crowd\, he had stairs leading into the audience!! The other thing was how he could hold the attention of his audience so deliberately while introducing songs that told stories of the challenges he faced with his father’s depression and with authority. Not to mention the marathon show and energy level of the band. As a 16 year old\, this blew my mind and put me on a musical path that would guide my life. ‘Greetings From Asbury Park N.J. – Celebrating Springsteen: Unplugged’\, is not your typical tribute show with an 8 piece band playing all the songs like on the records\, but instead a tribute paying homage to the song writing of Bruce Springsteen\, and how his music inspired me and so many others. Working with Matt Horner and Gene Hardy\, I’ll be stripping down the music and telling some stories about Bruce’s life and career. And although we focus mostly on the early years\, there are a few surprises thrown in! \n \n Tickets
