SUMMARY:Bobby Boyd: Kompliance King
DESCRIPTION:Bobby Boyd: Kompliance King\nThe world’s largest insurance company is hours away from the start of their annual compliance meeting. All is well\, until their compliance head becomes ill and informs them that she won’t be able to run the event. Fortunately\, Bobby Boyd – the Kompliance King – is in town and agrees to fill in. \nWhat could possibly go wrong? \nAbout Bobby\nThere are a lot of rumours floating around about Bobby. For example\, some are wondering if this is the same guy who while appearing on the Jerry Spaniel show in the early 90’s\, ended up getting slapped around by a client. Apparently\, the policyholder was upset with Bobby for shooting his dog. The client’s K-9 hated being left alone and would destroy carpets and sofas\, when he felt abandoned. Some Agents would have raised the guy’s rates or increased his deductible. However\, mired in a recession\, Bobby handled things differently. \nAnother rumour involves the time Bobby bought a brokerage that handled farmers’ insurance. However\, that gig was short lived. Bobby has never been a morning person (his new clients couldn’t understand why he was never available before noon). Also\, changing the name of the business to Allsteak\, it’s slogan to You’re in Good Hoofs with Allsteak\, and the lawsuit that followed\, may have played a role in this venture’s demise.  \nYou really need to meet the legend\, Bobby Boyd – The Kompliance King!  \n \n Tickets

SUMMARY:Memorial Tour: Rachael Kilgour & Ian Fisher
DESCRIPTION:Live & Original Presents: Rachael Kilgour & Ian Fisher\nRachael Kilgour and Ian Fisher present a night of songs in memory of their respective parents. With honesty\, tenderness and a touch of humour\, the songwriters each navigate the disorientation that comes with the death of a parent. More than a concert\, their performance is an invitation to find connection and universality in our loneliest moments. \nRachael Kilgour is a Canadian-American songwriter and performing artist whose plain-spoken\, heart-centered work has endeared her to listeners and fellow artists alike. Her new album\, ‘My Father Loved Me’\, was produced by JUNO Award-winning songwriter Rose Cousins and recorded in her late father’s native Ontario home. In the spare\, often gutting language for which she is known\, Kilgour gives us a complex portrait of a man as seen through his daughter’s eyes. With unwavering acuity she poses questions about identity\, inheritance\, and grief\, and affirms the value of one ordinary working man’s life to an often indifferent world. \nIan Fisher left his home state of Missouri when he was twenty one to roam the streets of Europe for fifteen years. His music mixes his rural Midwestern American upbringing with a dark delicacy shaped by his time abroad. Simple\, yet emotionally complex\, he has the acoustic grit of an early Jeff Tweedy with a sentimental pen ready to strike a’la Townes Van Zandt. Fisher has written nearly two thousand songs while touring extensively through Europe\, Africa\, and North America. His many albums have earned him praise in such outlets as Rolling Stone\, who calls his music “Half Americana & Half Abbey Road-Worthy Pop”. \n \n Tickets

SUMMARY:The Magnitude of All Things
DESCRIPTION:The Magnitude of All Things\nWhen Jennifer Abbott lost her sister to cancer\, her sorrow opened her up to the profound gravity of climate breakdown. Abbott’s new documentary The Magnitude of All Things draws intimate parallels between the experiences of grief—both personal and planetary. Stories from the frontlines of climate change merge with recollections from the filmmaker’s childhood on Ontario’s Georgian Bay. What do these stories have in common? The answer\, surprisingly\, is everything. \nFor the people featured\, climate change is not happening in the distant future: it is kicking down the front door. Battles waged\, lamentations of loss\, and raw testimony coalesce into an extraordinary tapestry\, woven together with raw emotion and staggering beauty that transform darkness into light\, grief into action. \n  \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIVYm31gK5A\n \n Tickets
